Therapists Profile
| Psychosexual Therapy Qualifications | I hold a Pink Therapy endorsed Diploma in Sex & Relationship Therapy from the Contemporary Institute for Clinical Sexology. I also have a Post Graduate Diploma in Individual and Couple Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. |
| Biography | I have been a therapist for over 18 years, and I work with relationships of every kind, with every sexuality and gender variant. I can help you to think about your relationship whether you are currently in one, single and wanting to think about relationships, or wanting support as you bring a relationship to an end. I also hold a Diploma in Sex & Relationship Therapy from the Contemporary Institute of Clinical Sexology – a COSRT accredited and Pink Therapy endorsed course, and a specialist in depth Post Graduate Diploma in Couples Psychotherapy. As well as working as a therapist and supervisor, I work as a lecturer, tutor and assessor on various counselling and psychotherapy courses in London. I am Co-Tutor on the Intimate Partner Therapy Certificate at Contemporary Institute of Clinical Sexology and I am a Live Assessor at the Minster Centre. I am a Visiting Tutor at Metanoia Institute and I train and supervise NHS therapists to deliver the Couples Counselling for Depression programme. I also write (fairly infrequently) on mental health issues, such as on the Huffington Postand The Mighty. My most recent article was published in the Journal of Couple & Family Psychoanalysis. |
| Types of Therapy Used | I am primarily pluralist/integrative in approach, which means that I have been trained in a number of theories, and use the interventions that suit the people that come to see me. These approaches include: Psychodynamic therapy – this makes use of the client's past and their unconscious processes; Person Centred Therapy – this is based on the core conditions of empathy, congruence and unconditional positive regard for the client; CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) – an approach that targets problem thinking and behaviours, which can be particularly useful in some aspects of sex therapy. |
| Issues Dealt With | Relationship issues, including but not limited to: Communication difficulties, arguments/conflict, infidelity, trust issues, exploration of open or polyamorous relationship styles, attachment issues etc. Psychosexual issues, including but not limited to: Discrepancies in desire, orgasm difficulties, difficulties with erections, sexual compulsions, painful sex, kink (from a non-pathologising perspective), problematic porn use, ejaculation problems, sexual shame and issues of conflict between sex and religion. I am also a general therapist so I work with depression, anxiety, trauma, OCD and most other issues. Contact me to find out more about what I can work with. |
