Biography

Relationships are central to our lives and the way we relate to the world around us.
There will always be good reasons why anyone has difficulty in relationships, so the good news is that these reasons can be tackled with understanding and encouragement to find a better way.
Equally, there will be underlying reasons why somebody has difficulty in their sexual functioning – common psychosexual problems are treatable, such as erection or ejaculation difficulties, vaginismus, lack of desire, problems with reaching orgasm.
As a relationship therapist, I support couples in regaining the pleasure and commitment within their relationships. This often involves improved communication to deal with built-up feelings of anger, resentment, hurt and disappointment. There are often major obstacles to reaching contentment in relationships, such as arguing, violence, sexual difficulties, cheating or affairs, the impact of porn or sex addiction, the way that careers or children impact on the couple. But with support and information, the couples that come to talk to me usually find relief and greater satisfaction.
Individuals who come to see me usually say that they benefit from the space to work on such difficulties to give them the confidence to find a satisfying relationship later down the line.
Trauma from the past can also create sexual difficulties or relationship anxiety. Abusive relationships, sexual traumatic experiences, or intrusive memories can all be addressed effectively in therapy.
