| Psychosexual Therapy Qualifications | I trained as a Psychosexual and Relationship Therapist at the Contemporary Institute of Clinical Sexology (CICS), where I developed a pluralistic approach to therapy. This recognises that our experiences of sex, intimacy and relationships are shaped by many interconnected factors, including our physical health, emotional wellbeing, relationships, life experiences, culture and personal values. Alongside my work as a therapist, I have over 20 years’ experience working within sexual health and currently work within the NHS as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in gynaecology. In this role, I predominantly support women experiencing intimate and gynaecological concerns, including Genito-Pelvic Pain/Penetration Disorder (GPPPD), vulvodynia, vestibulodynia, endometriosis, painful sex and difficulties with penetration.

| Biography | Hello, I’m Paula Chaplin, I am a Psychosexual and relationships therapist and registered member of COSRT, the UK’s professional body for relationship and psychosexual therapists. I specialise in supporting individuals and couples experiencing difficulties with sex, intimacy and relationships, with particular expertise in sexual pain and gynaecological conditions. Alongside my counselling practice, I work within the NHS as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in gynaecology. With over 20 years’ experience in sexual health, I bring a strong understanding of the connection between our physical health, emotional wellbeing, relationships and sexual experiences. A particular area of my work is supporting women experiencing intimate and gynaecological concerns, including painful sex, difficulties with penetration, vulvodynia, vestibulodynia, endometriosis and Genito-Pelvic Pain/Penetration Disorder (GPPPD). I understand that when sex becomes painful or difficult, the impact can extend far beyond the physical experience, affecting confidence, desire, intimacy and relationships. I also work extensively with men and couples experiencing psychosexual concerns, including erectile difficulties, premature ejaculation, low sexual desire, differences in desire between partners, and other sexual or intimacy-related difficulties. Talking about sex, relationships and intimacy can feel incredibly personal, and taking the first step into therapy isn’t always easy. My approach is warm, compassionate and non-judgemental, providing a confidential space where you can talk openly and explore what is happening at a pace that feels comfortable for you. You don’t need to know exactly what the problem is or what you want to change before coming to therapy. Together, we can begin to understand what may be contributing to your difficulties and work towards the changes that matter to you. |
