Biography

I am an experienced, passionate, enthusiastic, fully qualified psychosexual therapist who cares deeply about my clients and their need to find a more positive way to tackle their difficulties.

Sex Addiction Therapy
I specialise in working with the impact of sex addiction on both the individual and their partner.
I have extensive experience in working with individuals struggling with sex addiction and their partners who are traumatised by the discovey of the sex addiction behaviour. Recovery takes time for both partners, who may need to work both individually and together on their relationship and decisions about how they recover. The person struggling with addiction will work with resolution to stop and staying stopped, exploring triggers and management strategies. We will also explore a deep understanding of the extent of the addictions and the underlying causes. The partner work will initially focus on the impact of betrayal, anger, sadness, loss and possibibility of understanding addiction. Together as a couple we will work with the huge impact the discovery has had on both of them and how they can move on.
Psychosexual therapy.
I have worked over many years with couples and individuals struggling with sexual and relationship difficulties. The first session will be an assessment of the extent of the problem and a planning of the away forward. We will begin by building a good working relationship, which is key to the success of the therapy. I will then take a detailed history of predisposing factors, dating as far back as childhood which may have contributed to present difficulties.  The next step is to consider more recent stress which has impacted or accelerated the problem. Finally we will discuss factors that may be contributing to maintaining the difficulties. A full and detailed formulation of all the information will be followed by a treatment programme.

Sessions will initially be weekly or fortnightly and as the client progresses may move to monthly maintainance sessions. It is a collaberative relationship between you and I and I welcome your feedback and together we can address the sexual difficulties that have impacted your relationship, perhaps for a long time.We will regularly review therapy together and assess progress.

I have assisted many clients in making huge, positive and courageous changes in their life leading to greater happiness and fulfilment and deeper intimacy with those closest to them.
