| Biography | Hello, I’m Matt, an integrative psychotherapist, supervisor, and psychosexual and relationship therapist. My pronouns are he/him. Psychosexual and Relationship therapy is a specialist type of therapy designed to address both sexual and relational issues for individuals, couples, throuples, polycules, and other relationship dynamics. Psychosexual issues may include erectile dysfunction, rapid or delayed ejaculation, vaginismus, pain during sex, compulsive sexual behaviours, or Chemsex. For many people, sex and relationship issues can be isolating as there is stigma around discussing these. Psychosexual and Relationship therapy with me is a space where you can explore and reflect on all aspects of sex or relationships that are affecting you. Together we will develop a clear understanding of what is going on for you and your partner(s). This will allow us to create a plan to help address the issues you are facing, tailored to your needs and hopes. My practice is queer and neurodivergent affirming, understanding the unique issues that can be present for these groups. I have significant experience working with neurodivergent, LGBTQIA+, polyamorous, and BDSM/Kink communities. This experience is further underpinned by training and CPD. I also bring my lived experience as a queer, neurodivergent therapist. I recently completed the first clinical study into autistic people’s experiences of psychosexual therapy, which I hope to have published later in 2025. Prior to training as a therapist, I spent many years working and volunteering for different LGBT+ organisations. I have an MSc with Distinction in Contemporary Psychosexual Therapy. As part of this training, I covered working with diverse communities, addressing psychosexual issues, understanding relationship dynamics, working with compulsive sexual behaviours and Chemsex. I have undertaken further CPD in these areas. I initially qualified as an integrative therapist in 2020. My initial therapy training included substantial training in humanistic, psychodynamic, cognitive and pluralistic counselling theories, grief and bereavement, addiction, psychopathology, and group counselling. Throughout my training we worked creatively, embracing collage, art and poetry. I have carried this over to my client work as I offer working creatively to explore mental health. |
