Therapists Profile
| Psychosexual Therapy Qualifications |
I have 19 years experience working across different therapeutic and helping professions within the NHS, the charitable sector, local government children and family services and the private sector.
I currently work as a private therapist across various specialisms, and within the NHS in two roles; as a psychosexual therapist for adults and couples and as bereavement therapist in a child and adolescent service.
I have a background in general therapy (NCPS) and social care. In addition, my psychosexual and relationship therapy qualifications include; a postgraduate diploma in psychosexual and relationship therapy and a postgraduate diploma in advanced relationship therapy (both at masters, level 7). I have been working as a psychosexual and relationship/couple therapist in the NHS since 2017. I have been working as a therapist since 2013. Prior to this I worked in children’s social care and in the charitable sector.
Therapy offer;
I see individuals and couples. I offer general therapy (see my non-psychosexual specialisms below), psychosexual therapy and relationship (couple) therapy.
Sessions can be weekly or fortnightly depending on the issues being addressed and your availability and financial situation. I don’t necessarily work with a standard “same time, same day, every week” model of therapy, as I realise this doesn’t serve some people’s needs. I’m able to offer consistently scheduled, weekly sessions if appropriate and desired; but if not, I’m also able to offer a flexible booking system.
I only offer virtual sessions.
Daytime sessions – low cost;
I currently have availability to see private clients on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursday afternoons and Fridays.
I am unable to offer discounted sessions based on your individual circumstances, however, in the daytime I offer lower cost sessions as standard;
I charge £60 for an initial exploratory session which will last 1.5 hours. Thereafter, if you choose to continue with therapy, sessions are 1 hour and cost £65 for individuals or £80 for couples.
Evening sessions;
I have a limited number of weekday evening sessions available (after 5pm) which are charged at £100 per hour. |
| Biography | I have 19 years experience working across different therapeutic and helping professions within the charitable sector, private sector, NHS and local government children and family services. I currently work privately across various specialisms and within the NHS as a psychosexual therapist and a children’s bereavement therapist.
Experience, specialisms and therapeutic approach;
My therapeutic style is very conversational and I work with a high level of transparency about my therapeutic/treatment rationale. I have completed training in various modalities but my main theoretical underpinnings are integrative and relational therapy; I also draw heavily on themes from existential therapy. I use various trauma treatment approaches. As a previous social care employee and a current NHS employee, I have been trained extensively in mindfulness based therapies, CBT and compassion focussed therapy, so if it feels useful, I may incorporate elements of these approaches too.
I currently work with individuals and couples in a psychosexual clinic within the NHS. I have experience working across many trusts with a very wide variety sexual health issues, psychosexual issues, couple issues and issues around sexual and gender identity. I have previously worked in specialist NHS clinics for those affected by; abortion, FGM, or emotional, relational, physical, sexual or existential troubles related to menopause.
In my broader psychotherapy and social care background I have qualifications and experience in the following areas of specialism; common mental health issues, eating disorder, obesity, trauma, abortion, miscarriage, post and peri-natal mental health issues, domestic abuse, sexual abuse, childhood abuse, parenting issues, child protection proceedings and family court processes, loss and bereavement, existential issues and life stage transitions, working with children and adolescents, neurodivergence. |
