Biography

Struggling with sex, intimacy or your relationship? You don’t have to face it alone.

Whether you’re feeling disconnected from your partner, worried about your sexual functioning or finding it difficult to talk about sex, I offer a safe, supportive space where we can explore what’s happening without shame or judgement.

I’m Andrea Simson, a counsellor, psychotherapist, couples counsellor and psychosexual therapist (sex therapist). I work with individuals and couples to help them understand their difficulties, improve communication and find a way forward that feels right for them.

Psychosexual Therapy (Sex Therapy)

Sex can be complicated, and difficulties with intimacy or sexual functioning can affect our confidence, emotional wellbeing and relationships. It isn’t always easy to talk about these concerns, but you don’t need to feel embarrassed or ashamed.

Psychosexual therapy provides an opportunity to explore the physical, psychological, emotional and relationship factors that may be affecting your sex life. Together, we can develop a better understanding of your experiences and explore practical ways to improve sexual wellbeing and intimacy.

I can help with concerns including:

  • Low sexual desire and differences in sexual needs
  • Erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation
  • Difficulty reaching orgasm
  • Performance anxiety and sexual confidence
  • Pain during sex and difficulties with physical intimacy
  • Body image and self-esteem concerns affecting sex
  • The impact of menopause, childbirth, illness or surgery on your sex life
  • Sexual trauma and difficult past experiences
  • Pornography and concerns about sexual behaviours
  • Exploring sexual preferences, identity and intimacy without judgement

Sex therapy is talking therapy. There is no physical touch or sexual activity during sessions.

Couples Counselling

Relationships can bring love, connection and security, but sometimes these feelings are replaced by conflict, hurt, distance or loneliness. Couples counselling offers a space to talk openly, understand each other’s perspectives and explore what may be happening between you.

I work with couples experiencing communication difficulties, recurring arguments, loss of trust, affairs, jealousy, intimacy problems, differences in sexual desire, family pressures and uncertainty about the future of their relationship.

We can explore how past experiences and relationship patterns may be affecting the present, and work towards better communication, greater understanding and a more connected relationship. Where both partners want to continue together, we can explore ways to rebuild and strengthen the relationship. If separation feels like the right decision, counselling can also help you navigate this with greater clarity and understanding.

My approach is warm, collaborative and non-judgemental. I will support you in exploring difficult subjects honestly, at a pace that feels manageable, while recognising that meaningful change requires commitment from both partners.

Taking the First Step

You don’t need to wait until things reach breaking point before seeking support. Whether you’re struggling with a specific sexual difficulty, feeling disconnected from your partner or simply wanting to understand yourself and your relationship better, we can begin by exploring what’s happening and what you would like to change.

Alongside my therapeutic work, I host Let’s Simply Talk About Sex, Relationships & Everything In Between, a podcast and YouTube channel that aims to make conversations about sex, relationships and emotional wellbeing accessible, informative and free from shame.

I offer in-person sessions in Epsom and Ashtead, Surrey, as well as online sessions via Zoom.

Sometimes, the hardest part is starting the conversation. You don’t have to have all the answers before you begin.
