COSRT Training Accreditation

COSRT Accredits training courses provided by third parties as part of its commitment to improving and upholding professional standards.  As the nation’s professional body for Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy, our mark of accreditation is highly regarded by students, practitioners and employers. 

Our accreditation covers three types of training courses:

Specialised Practice Qualifications

COSRT accredits courses that equip graduates to work as Psychosexual and Relationship Therapists.  Providers of these Specialised Practice training courses benefit from:

• A limited license to use COSRT’s Marks (logo and name) in association with the course.
• An ongoing listing on the COSRT website.
• An advert in COSRT publications and regular training mailouts.
• Graduates will be able to use the course as verified evidence of training to join the COSRT Register. 

Accreditation is a multi-stage process designed to promote and support quality.

Specialised Foundation Pathways

COSRT accredits Specialised Foundation Pathway courses that give basic skills and knowledge that allow progression to Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy or Relationship Therapy Training. These courses are stand out from generic therapy training by providing individuals with opportunities to fast-track specialist development and career progression. Graduates will be able to:

• Have the qualification automatically accepted by any COSRT Accredited Specialised Practice Qualification course as proof that relevant training, skills or experience entry requirements are met.
• Have the qualification automatically accepted by COSRT as proof of general therapy competence requirements as part of any application to become a registrant.
• Use all specialist training or clinical placement hours completed during the course within any later portfolio-based application for COSRT Registered, Accredited or Senior Accredited membership. 

These courses are accredited at levels depending on how advanced content and learning outcomes are.  They also have Guided Learning and Total Qualification Time determined as part of the comprehensive assessment.

The courses all lead to qualification after assessment but completion does not mean that a graduate is equipped to act as a therapist.  

Receiving Foundation Training Accreditation means:

• A tailored logo is presented for uses related to the course, indicating Accreditation and the Level.
• COSRT’s logo and name can be used in association with the course in specific ways.
• The course will be advertised on the COSRT website for the duration of Accreditation.
• The Course will be advertised in the Good Therapy COSRT Newsletter and COSRT Training update once per year during Accreditation.
• All references to the Course will include reference to the Level, Guided Learning and Total Qualification Time.
• Graduates will be able to use the course as verified evidence of training hours for COSRT Accredited Membership (when added to an eligible Professional Qualification).

Thematic Qualifications

COSRT accredits training courses that cover themes integral to good quality Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy practice.  The knowledge gained during these courses contributes to increasing practitioner skills and knowledge.  These courses all lead to a form of qualification after assessment.

These Thematic Training courses are accredited at levels depending on how advanced content and learning outcomes are.  They also have Guided Learning and Total Qualification Time determined as part of the comprehensive assessment.

Graduates are able to use their qualifications and associated hours as part of applications for Accredited Membership.

Receiving Thematic Training Course Accreditation means:

• A tailored logo is presented for uses related to the course, indicating Accreditation and the Level.
• COSRT’s logo and name can be used in association with the course in specific ways.
• The course will be advertised on the COSRT website for the duration of Accreditation.
