John is the Chief Executive with accountability for all aspects of the organisation’s activity. Leading the senior management team he works closely with Trustees to set overall strategy and policy.

Prior to joining COSRT in 2019, he was operational lead for Newcastle University’s Institute of Health and Society. In voluntary sector senior posts, he led large multidisciplinary functions working to improve policy and practice at the National Children’s Bureau and Macmillan Cancer Support.
John started his career almost 20 years ago running a small research-focused charity in the North East. This led to him managing research and policy development in UK local government, the Brussels Eurocities network, and an international research organisation.
His passion for using evidence to improve outcomes underpins his commitment to the voluntary sector and his aspirations for COSRT. With expertise in health, inclusion, and innovation John is coordinating efforts to increase the organisation’s scale, visibility and impact in the coming months and years.
