Integrating diversity into your therapy
COSRT is delighted to present our latest live training event on Zoom. This four hour live event, called ‘Integrating diversity into your therapy’ will be presented by Rima Hawkins and Silva Neves, on Friday 4th September at 9am.
Therapists must tackle Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) across their work. A key element is delivering therapy that accounts for and respects issues such as disability, sexuality, gender, culture, race and language. This training event will explore EDI in relation to multiple professional practice areas, with an emphasis on cultural diversity. For example, tackling privilege in the therapist/client relationship, power dynamics and associated guilt, dealing with unconscious racist comments, working with English as second language (with and without an interpreter), safeguarding issues across cultures and supporting therapists to bring difficult/awkward issues to the supervisor.
The training event will include training and experiential learning components, incorporating ‘the world cafe workshop’ method.
The main aims of the training:
• To gain a deeper awareness of all diversities on psychosexual and relationship therapy in line with ethical and legal guidelines.
• To allow participants to reflect on their bias, current practice and to gain knowledge to challenge their understanding of diversity, as well as, the impact they have on clients.
This course is suitable for any level of practitioner and is just £50 for COSRT members. The event is eligible for four hours CPD.
