Save the Date…COSRT’s autumn conference will be held on the 6th of October.
It will explore how therapists can better meet the needs of adult survivors of abuse.
It will be held at 30 Euston Square, London.
An online option will be available for those unable to make it in person.
The conference follows on from our hugely successful June conference, where delegates explored some of the complex and hidden issues related to abuse.
The October event is grounded in the reality that experiencing abuse in childhood or adolescence can lead to significant challenges in later life. And that these later challenges can vary hugely and are often not obviously linked to a history of abuse when presented. Therapists, therefore, face significant challenges in providing tailored, high-impact support to these adult survivors.
Work is needed to understand the range and impacts of abuse in early life. Ways to tackle adult presentations whilst addressing earlier experiences of abuse must be shared. Additional needs of survivors engaged in the criminal justice system must be accounted for. And the voices of survivors must be heard to help inform services.
This conference will be a vital tool for therapists to improve practice and outcomes in these areas and more. Experts will share their knowledge on real needs and experiences of survivors. Discussion will explore practical lessons and ways of working in therapy.
