The CICS Online Diploma in Compulsive Sexual Behaviour (CSB) provides specialist training in working with clients who feel that their sexual behaviour is out of their control.
At CICS we prefer to use the term Compulsive Sexual Behaviour, (CSB), rather than ‘sex addiction’. There are no current diagnostic criteria for ’sex addiction’ in the UK and there is a building research base that challenges the concepts of ‘sex and porn addiction’.
Our course offers a paradigm shift towards a non-pathologising, sex-positive approach that centralises client individuality, erotic diversity and cultural sensitivity. We approach sexual compulsivity from a sex and relationship perspective, rather than through the lens of so-called ‘sex addiction’, and, as such, we ground our students in a thorough understanding of the aspects of sexual diversity and eroticism that have an impact on this client group.
Attendees will leave the training feeling confident in their understanding of compulsive sexual behaviours and armed with a range of treatment approaches immediately applicable to clinical practice.
