This Conduct Procedure provides a transparent route by which complaints against COSRT Members are made, managed and considered. Through the Procedure COSRT aims to protect members of the public and uphold standards of and confidence in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy.
The Procedure is integral to COSRT’s commitment to supporting professional excellence. The Procedure contains provisions to allow complaints to be settled by agreement when possible, including providing Members the opportunity to develop and reflect where appropriate.
The Conduct Procedure should be read by all Members and anyone wishing to complain about a COSRT Member. In it are all parts of the complaint procedure including:
- How to complain.
- What complaints can be considered.
- How complaints are screened when they are received.
- How complaints are investigated.
- The role of Professional Conduct Panels.
- Possible sanctions and actions including Membership suspension and Consensual Agreements.
- Adjudication Hearings including formats, participants and outcomes.
- Appeals processes.
- How complaint outcomes are published.

The Conduct Procedure is linked to the Code of Ethics and Practice and the Sanctions Protocol. The latter contains information on all the sanctions that can be agreed with or imposed on a Member. This includes:
- Requiring a written apology.
- Requiring the Member to demonstrate specified and measurable change/improvement in practice.
- Requiring the Member to undertake identified training.
- Suspending or terminating COSRT Membership.
- Amending Membership Category (including removal of Senior Accredited or Accredited status).
- Removing the Member from the COSRT Register.
- Removing the Member from the COSRT Supervisor Register.
- Revoking a Fellowship.
