COSRT recognises that many members work for external agencies as part of their practice and are subject to the organisation’s rules, objectives and regulations. COSRT would advise any COSRT member working in this way to have a plan in place for all types of therapeutic endings anticipated and unexpected, including external factors, especially when they are employees. Members and the organisations that they work for must endeavour to be fair, ensure containment and safe transition for all service users, including any onward referral to third parties which must be made in a professional manner, always putting the needs of the service user first.
