COSRT’s Strategy for 2024-29

We are delighted to share COSRT’s new strategy – Good Therapy for All.

The strategy builds on COSRT’s unparalleled 48 year history which has seen it pioneer the development of Psychosexual and Relationship Therapies in the UK and beyond. It illustrates how COSRT now carries out vital complementary regulatory and enabling functions through its work arranged around three main pillars:

  • Setting and maintaining professional standards.
  • Providing and overseeing high quality training.
  • Promoting research and knowledge creation.

Looking to the future, the document captures the proposed direction for the organisation over the next five years. Five main priorities are identified for COSRT as it continues to protect the public and serve professionals as the unique professional body for Psychosexual and Relationship Therapists:

  • Improving awareness of specialist therapies.
  • Increasing the impact of evidence.
  • Spreading professional standards.
  • Improving professional training.
  • Reinforcing COSRT’s position.

Steve Johnson, Chair of the COSRT Trustees stated:

“I and the rest of the COSRT Trustees are delighted with the work that has been done in recent years by staff and everyone associated with the organisation. When we were developing this new strategy it was clear we were building on an incredibly strong foundation and evolution was the order of the day. The result of our work is a pathway for development that I’m certain will benefit the public and professionals alike. Our organisation is primed for continued success with the team led by our CEO Dr John Dodd ready to turn ideas into actions that will protect the public and support specialist therapists across their career pathways.”

Dr John Dodd, Chief Executive said:

“The last strategy cycle saw a deeply rewarding development of COSRT. Everyone involved with COSRT’s work helped the organisation grow and solidify its position as the only organisation dedicated to two incredibly valuable therapy modalities. Much of the work carried out was structural and has left a great base for us to now push on ambitiously – looking to creative and engaging ways to push the professions forward and help therapists and Service Users even more.”
