The day aims to equip delegates with enhanced knowledge and awareness around infertility and fertility related choices and the current treatment options available for couples and individuals.

A practical primer, the course will explore the regulatory framework of assisted conception in the UK and include overseas treatment in respect of people going overseas for treatment and people importing donated gametes from overseas for treatment within the UK

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the workshop delegates should:

  • Have increased understanding of the regulatory framework around assisted conception treatment in the UK
  • Have increased understanding of the implications of donating eggs, sperm or embryos
  • Have increased understanding of the implications of conceiving with donated eggs, sperm or embryos
  • Have increased understanding of the implications of fertility preservation treatment
  • Have increased awareness of the research that is incorporated in to fertility counselling practise
  • Have increased awareness of the ethical dilemmas around when (or not) to offer treatment
  • Have a range of resources for future use or to aid further research

Presented by Tracey Sainsbury, an accredited fertility counsellor with the British Infertility Counselling Association, Tracey is a volunteer counsellor and member of the Advisory Panel for Fertility Network UK and of the National Donation Strategy Group & Lifecycle Editorial Board. She manages the counselling team across the London Women’s Clinic, London Egg Bank and London Sperm Bank. Tracey and her team provide counselling for support and also implications counselling ahead of treatment for patients and donors.

Tracey has over 20 years’ experience in the fertility sector, working with Fertility charities and on committees for the HFEA, Fertility Network and the National Infertility Awareness Campaign and also served on the Executive Committee of the British Infertility Counselling Association, she is also co-author of ‘Making Friends with your Fertility.’

Terms and Conditions: The full fee for each training day is £115 for COSRT members and £125 for non-members. Cheques should be made payable to COSRT in GB pounds sterling. Payment must be received by COSRT before the training day. Confirmation and details of your booking will be emailed to you. Cancellations must be made in writing. There is an administrative charge of £20 per person for cancellations received up to six weeks prior to the training day. Thereafter no refund is possible. To substitute a delegate please call the COSRT office (020 8543 2707) at least seven days prior to the event.
